Your Debit Card Is Going Contactless
Starting November 3, 2026, every new Home Bank of California debit card supports contactless payments. Just tap your card at checkout and go.
No action needed. You don’t need to call us or fill anything out. When your current debit card expires, we’ll mail your new contactless card that same month.
Faster, Safer Checkout
Faster Transactions
- Your new card has the latest chip technology, including support for contactless payments.
- No need to insert your card into the terminal and wait.
- Save time every time you tap.
Secure Transactions
- Every chip and contactless transaction includes a unique code, which helps protect against fraud and keep your information safe.
- The information on your card is protected by unique keys.
- Contactless payments only work when your card is within 1 to 2 inches of the terminal.
How to Use Your Contactless Card
- Look for the contactless symbol on the payment terminal.
- Tap your card on the front of the terminal.
- Wait for a beep or green light. Then you can put your card away.
- Follow any instructions on the screen. You might be asked to sign or enter your PIN.
Use It Everywhere
More merchants add contactless every day, including drug stores, supermarkets, fast food, convenience stores, vending machines and transit. Where a terminal doesn’t take contactless yet, you can still insert or swipe your card, so it works wherever you shop, around the world.
Questions?
Do I need to do anything?
No. Your new contactless card is mailed automatically in the month your current card expires.
Can I keep using my current card?
Yes. Keep using your current card until it expires and your new one arrives.
Are business debit cards going contactless too?
Yes. All Home Bank of California debit cards, personal and business, are going contactless.
Do I need to activate my new card?
Activate it the same way you would any renewed card: use your PIN at an ATM, or call the number on the sticker on your card.
Can I get a contactless card before my current card expires?
You can ask us for a new card, but we normally replace a working card only when there’s a reason to. Your new contactless card will arrive automatically the month your current card expires.
